20k troops are not enough if it is to be business as usual. If this is to be enough the government needs to throw caution to the wind and start taking out the enemy and that means killing. It also means that some of our heros will die. Unfortunately they are too cautious right now and probably concerned that they may be prosecuted if the enemy complains. What the hell is that all about anyway, since when does the enemy's word mean anything to us since they all are trying to kill us. They are just waiting for us to pull out so they can bring it here to us. They are tired of having their economy ruined by constant barrages of indiscriminate bombing. We bomb based on intel provided by probably the enemy, and then prosecute the bomber. What happened to letting them do their job. We need to start killing the bad guys and the ones that put the train in motion. Why is Al Sadr still alive? Why are any of them still alive? Our Hero's would be more apt to work as intended and die if necessary if they were not concerned about the life sentence they will get for killing a civilian that was probably the enemy. The Special Forces have it right, "Kill them all and let god sort them out." This needs to be the plan of the day. Worry about the legal stuff later, god will take care of it. Oh crap I said GOD, oh GOD, GOD, GOD. The big guy will take care of any wrong doing that was put forth upon the innocent. It is our place to ensure the war does not come home so you tree hugging liberals can drive your hybrids and smell your ass. We will be assaulted and it will be your fault because you are such Pussies and only care about your own agenda. It's not about the war it's about you, and you probably couldn't care less about the boys and girls that protect your way of life and it shows by the constant protesting and the crap put out by the politicians. I will say now I hope they bomb your house or movie set and when they do and you can't protect yourself because you have no weapons because you didn't want anyone to have them except the criminals and the police can't help you because they are too busy arresting people that are drinking and driving, in the end you will also be judged.
Be sure you will face them one day and you will probably convert to islam to make your life easy. And me I will die to protect the way of life that I swore to uphold when I gave my life to the military. Good luck to you.

Well once again...Hello to you Mr Sailor Man...We dont quite see eye to eye again on this fine issue...but i feel your pain man...I simply think UNLESS they choose to do things right,NO troop surge should evolve...The Days of holding the cities should of happened when we took Iraq...The strategy should of been as each town/province was passed,we manned it appropriately...!!!But..WE DiD NOT!!!!...because of the PC War WE want to play...HOW can you play war with little bullets that hardly penetrate and knock the enemy down???

Our politicians and all those who take them government contracts now need to step up to the plate...I agree with the melting of US troops in with Iraqi troops...I did read today that they are burming up some cities...with 12 foot sand walls...Thats a tactic that should be used around every 5 mile stretch of Baghdad...and if you have a skirmish...you bulldoze the town down...and move the displaced iraqi citizens that are helpless, and there are lots...to a fine piece of land with protection.....

I agree the contractors need to step up, I also agree that the Iraqis need to step up. Some day maybe they will, but I don't see it happening.
My idea is just to just start taking them out. No more pussy footing around just take them out city by city. Pull everyone to one place and start eraticating the species, place the puppet in power and move on to the next country that needs an ass whoopin. Almost like a FOD walkdown. Get on line and kill anything that moves. We will not win by hanging out, we will not win by sending 20 or 200 thousand troups. This is not the war that was started to oust SH this is a war on terrorism, they are terrorist now not soldiers and if they can't stand and be counted then they should be counted when dead.

I'm no Politician and I don't care what people think about me, but I do care about my home and my family and the people on the line, if they can't do their jobs as the good lord intended, then sending more just leads to having more waiting to come home. So we commit the 20k...and then do my 12 foot sand wall around every 5 mile area of the capital...and we simply start there...each enterance is secured as is each exit with Iraqi troops...Sensors and predator aircraft can control the fortresses allowin direct contact if it needed...a squad of can patrol both inside and outside the fortress...this leaves everyone else to dismantle and alleviate the bad dudes...and if it dont work...do what i have always said...Carve that place up into three different areas...I have said that since before the campaign even started...everyone gets a piece of the oil...and let them fight it out after that...but you well know...its larger than Iraq....We want to square off with our buddies the Iranians next...There are lots of Carriers in the neighborhood...let alone our mindless little toys called submarines...them sneaky little critter that run into shit every now and again...

I like the idea of the berm, the castle walls of europe were certainly effective and there is no reason they can't put a barrier between the city and the problem.
